Is Emotional Intelligence Required to be a Great Leader?

Let’s first start off and define what is EQ, Emotional Quotient or Emotional Intelligence.  Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand not only your own emotions but also the emotions of others and your ability to respond effectively to those emotions.

So why is EQ even important and why do we study it? It’s estimated that 90% of the difference between star performers and average performers is their  level of EQ, especially when it comes to senior level leadership positions.
